Houndstooth Blazer Outfit

IMG_2904.jpg

It seems like winter was never ending and boy am I ready for spring! As Iโ€™m anxiously awaiting a time where I can fold my sweaters away into storage Iโ€™ve been grabbing some end of winter sale items that work for this in between season. I found this blazer marked downโ€ฆ then discovered itโ€™s a dress. Ha! Only on my 5โ€™11โ€ figure! I kept it to have it as a longer blazer perfect for this tall girl and pair it with pants or thicker leggings. Though it does look darling with OTK boots or ankle booties for a day at the office to a night out.

Iโ€™m also seeing a lot of the plaid and 90โ€™s feel in the spring forecast so figured this could be the perfect transitional piece as itโ€™s not too heavy. Be sure to check out the widget below for some other tailored blazers that would be perfect with a simple white cami or t shirt underneath them. Iโ€™ve loved also pairing these with some distressed lighter wash denim in a cigarette fit like this pair.

Holiday Card Photos 2018

IMG_0029.JPG

December is finally here and I cannot believe how fast it arrived ! Weโ€™ve been decking just about every corner of our new little space for the holiday season and itโ€™s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Itโ€™s fun decorating a new space and we wanted it to feel extra cozy. So Iโ€™ll be sharing the finishing touches on here soon.

Over the weekend Kevin and I had our wonderful friend stop by to help us with our idea for our holiday card. Weโ€™ve been sending one out every year since we moved to NYC and look forward to receiving all the mail this month from family & friends. I usually designate a little spot to hang the cards now that most are photos cards ! This year we knew we wanted to not just incorporate a holiday theme but also as a life update. At first I was going to do this right away, but then held off.

Kevin thinks weโ€™re probably the last people on earth mailing holiday or new year cards, but I disagree! I look forward to coming up with what weโ€™ll do each year. This year was a little more close to home, but in the past weโ€™ve found some great spots around the city for our photos. This is ours from last year as we celebrated our first married Christmas!

This year the front of our card will be more traditional and the back is playful as our โ€œwe movedโ€ announcement.

We created our photos through Shutterfly and Iโ€™ve been pleased with them in years passed and their shipping is free and arrives fast. They always have a great special going on and if you need a promo code, use this one for 50% off or a free 8x8โ€ photo book! CODE: X4DU-A7Y8-R28G-KMCJGX. Minted is also another great spot for cards!

Iโ€™ve shared mine and Kevinโ€™s outfit details in the widget below.

Hope everyoneโ€™s December is off to a great start!

Spring Florals in Central Park

Spring is finally in full bloom over here in NYC and I couldnโ€™t be more excited! It seems like forever since my last blog post, but Iโ€™ve been busy over here with an art show Iโ€™m preparing for my students and I had the lovely surprise of my family visiting for my 30th Birthday recently. (Sigh)  For the longest time it felt like weโ€™d never see spring, so when I was finally able to put away all sweaters for good.  I couldnโ€™t wait to transition to spring and summer months!

Living on the UES makes Central Park so accessible and I try to take full advantage of itโ€™s beauty.  Thereโ€™s always something going on whether itโ€™s a concert, summer movie night,  or Shakespeare in the Park I love being able to explore all of itโ€™s different spots. The conservatory gardens make for a great spot for strolling and gorgeous photos!  Thereโ€™s also a few favorite cafes and restaurants along the way there Iโ€™ll be sharing this season that are perfect for taking a break from the park for a quick bite or cool down drink with friends. Although my favorite is just having a picnic setup and now thereโ€™s ways to make a reservation for one to be setup for you upon arrival! No fuss or bringing anything with you.

Now with all of the spring blooms itโ€™s also a crazy allergy season right now ! All of the trees were in full bloom the first warm weekend of the season and the park was unbelievably packed so I canโ€™t wait until the school year ends so I can take advantage of it during the weekdays.

I snagged this cold shoulder top on sale recently and hadnโ€™t paired red and pink together in a while, which is a new combo Iโ€™ve been into. This top has the perfect ruffle that falls on the chest and sleeve and could be paired with black pants for an office look with a blazer or even with shorts for something more casual. I try to keep versatility in mind when styling different pieces together.

What are your favorite places to adventure to in the spring ? Iโ€™d love to hear about them!
