Blushing in Grey Look

Finally getting back into this little blog after a few months of debating how to best prioritize all that I juggle in this city that never sleeps. Or maybe, it's just me that's not sleeping with so much to do on never ending to do lists. I'm in the midst of wedding planning,  and as fun and exciting it is to picture our special day, the self planning of such a big soiré has honestly been overwhelming. August will be here soon enough and we can't wait to celebrate and let all the little stuff go.

So it's been a struggle to find the right balance, and coming back to what I'm passionate is what I need to fuel me for the long haul when the going gets tough.

In the fall my fiancé and I had taken a trip out to Long Island with my family. After a second visit we both knew upon entering the historical mansion on the Gold Coast of Long Island that this would be our spot. It felt like a home really, a place that we could see our friends and closest family gathering together, but with the right kind of gatsby feel. We spent the day exploring out of the city and ended it at a delicious spot on the water for some seafood and an unexpected sunset. We captured some little previews of our spot and the rest will have to stay a surprise.

This day was a little chillier and I love soft pastels so I slipped on this warm off the shoulder sweater and some mules. Mine are originally from the Dolce Vita for Target line, so I linked similar ones here. With my skin fair in the fall and winter I tend to gravitate toward more muted and neutral hues.

Plaid at the Pumpkin Farm

It's always an adventure to escape NYC and get the breath of fresh air (literally!) even if it's just an hour outside the city. This past weekend I headed to two different orchards that has become a tradition for my fiancé and I for 5 years now. We usually go the end of September for the apple picking to get the best selection and beat the crowds. Since we traveled and had so many weddings then inclement weather we took advantage of a great sunny weekend in October instead. Oh my! The spot that felt like our special place has quickly turned into a go to spot since it's so close to the city. It was crowded!  We still enjoyed the spectacular landscape and took part in all the fall fest adventures there were to offer at Harvest Moon & Outhouse Orchards. I've already made two fresh apple crisps and got to adding more pumpkin décor around our space.

I wore a very casual layered outfit with the softest plaid shirt. The Hunter rain boots are always a good investment for the rainy, muddy, and soon to be snow days in and out of city living. I definitely recommend them!

Sweater Weather for Fall Festivities

Last weekend I traveled upstate for an event and while there my family and me headed to Becker Farms for our traditional apple picking and wine tasting. I can't believe it has been a year since I posted my first blog post, taking photos back at this same farm. It's been an exciting journey so far, starting as a hobby for some self care, and now becoming a new passion.

This day had the most perfect sunny, yet crisp fall air. As an easy look I layered my plaid scarf over my sweater. It was fun to listen to the live music and take in all the fall sites before getting back to the hustle and bustle of the city. I've linked a few of my favorite fall scarves and oversized sweaters at the bottom of this post.

Hope everyone is taking in all of the cider and apple everything this season!

Outfit Details:

This is an easy and comfortable look for fall and can pair well with a variety of footwear such as booties or an over the knee style. There's so many plaid options for scarves and warm chunky knits this season that can be styled together. Some of my favorites are mis matching stripes with plaids or bold colors.

I love this olive green color and I found it at a great price point at Target! Their sweaters are also on sale.  Buy one get the 2nd at half price! This is my first sweater of this kind from there, so I'll have to see how it washes and wears over time. I've linked my outfit details and similar options.
