Must Haves for a Beach Getaway

This 4th of July my husband and I are traveling to Cape Cod to stay with friends and will see my best friend perform in a musical that’s running at the Cape Playhouse. It’s our first time adventuring to the Cape, though I’ve frequented Martha’s Vineyard and loved it there. I’m looking forward to exploring and enjoying some beach time with friends as we celebrate in red, white, and blue !

I’ve simplified my packing and just bringing some basics since we’ll be spending most of our time lounging around at the beach. I’m bringing mostly swimsuits, sandals, casual outfits and using my go to travel cubes for packing. I like how they keep your clothes all separate and organized with little wrinkling. I love this Lilly Pullitzer version but there’s larger and more budget friendly ones on Amazon that work great! I recently put together a packing guide blog post for when we travel so you can read more about how I pack and what I use to organize everything here. I’m also bringing my favorite roll up sun hat that is my go to for keeping the sun off my face and this travel beach blanket. We’ve had one for years and it’s lasted so long. If you’re in the market for any beach essentials these have been on the top of my list this season.

Winter Sweater in the Catskills

On a recent wintery weekend an amazing friend arranged a much needed weekend winter getaway into the Catskill Mountains a few weekends ago at Foxfire Mountain House. This spot is a fairly new rustic inn tucked away in the Catskill area. The house we stayed in was decorated with so many details that I could've moved right in and left the city behind for a bit. This spot was the perfect quiet escape for a few days. We spent the weekend at the ski resort close by and then returned back to the house to cook dinners and enjoy the fire with our friends.  How I miss having a real wood burning fireplace! Definitely check it out, they also host small outdoor weddings in the spring and summer.  During our stay the main inn was hosting a bridal photography event. I can see why! So many places for shooting phenomenal photos, indoor and out.  We had to take advantage of it all. More photos and details from this weekend to come!

I've linked all of the details from this laid back winter look below.

Blushing in Grey Look

Finally getting back into this little blog after a few months of debating how to best prioritize all that I juggle in this city that never sleeps. Or maybe, it's just me that's not sleeping with so much to do on never ending to do lists. I'm in the midst of wedding planning,  and as fun and exciting it is to picture our special day, the self planning of such a big soiré has honestly been overwhelming. August will be here soon enough and we can't wait to celebrate and let all the little stuff go.

So it's been a struggle to find the right balance, and coming back to what I'm passionate is what I need to fuel me for the long haul when the going gets tough.

In the fall my fiancé and I had taken a trip out to Long Island with my family. After a second visit we both knew upon entering the historical mansion on the Gold Coast of Long Island that this would be our spot. It felt like a home really, a place that we could see our friends and closest family gathering together, but with the right kind of gatsby feel. We spent the day exploring out of the city and ended it at a delicious spot on the water for some seafood and an unexpected sunset. We captured some little previews of our spot and the rest will have to stay a surprise.

This day was a little chillier and I love soft pastels so I slipped on this warm off the shoulder sweater and some mules. Mine are originally from the Dolce Vita for Target line, so I linked similar ones here. With my skin fair in the fall and winter I tend to gravitate toward more muted and neutral hues.
