Thanksgiving Table Scape

IMG_1356.jpg

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I’ve been playing around with different decor options throughout this month before fully transitioning into winter mode. When we moved into our new place we got a new kitchen table and although the round shape wasn’t my first choice we’ve been making it work and I’ve enjoyed putting the different place settings together using the gold chargers I had kept after our wedding.

I love how they add an extra touch to pull the setting together. I was obsessed with the texture of these layered leaf placemats that have brushes of gold throughout. They were a great way to bring together those accents with the rest of our place and coordinated with the gold pumpkin centerpiece.

This table setting can changed into a range of possibilities if you’re hosting a Friendsgiving this year or Thanksgiving Day.

We always have our bar cart out and styled along with whatever holiday it is and it makes for an easy way for everyone to help themselves. I usually put out a cheese board and fill it with some dried fruits, nuts, and fig or pumpkin jams this time of year. I usually pair a hard, soft, and robust cheese and a variety of breads and flavored crackers ahead of time so it’s ready to go when guests arrive. My favorite crackers are the rosemary flavored ones that I actually found at Target, they’re by Archer Farms & so yummy! I usually grab our cheeses from Whole Foods/ Traders. Trader Joes always has some seasonal favorites I like to try and some great florals for dressing up a table if you need it with something fresh and natural.

If you’re interested in seeing where I found all of the table scape pieces be sure to click on the widgets below! Many of the products are on sale and marked down for end of season, or will be by Black Friday next week so book mark your pages and go back to restock for next season. The placemats are gorgeous and under $2 each right now!

Many of my pieces I keep and reuse year after year. I just change up where I put them around our place to refresh everything. I’m thinking of looking for some gold silverware to match the chargers once sales start and saving for next season or using them for Christmas time when we have guests over.

I hope everyone enjoys their upcoming Thanksgiving with their loved ones. We’ll be traveling upstate back home and cannot wait to spend much needed time relaxing with family and maybe seeing some snow! We’ve only had one snow fall here in NYC and the first one is always so exciting and made me instantly want to finish up my holiday decorating! (Which I’ll be doing the rest of this weekend before we get traveling.) Happy shopping season friends!

November Sales

There’s some really great sales this month leading into the holiday season so I’ll be rounding up some of my top pics that are versatile for yourself or would make for a great gift. I’m always eyeing something that can be personalized or made practical enough for whomever you have on your shopping list.

I’ve been really loving cozy fleece pullovers, especially on weekends and during errands. I can’t ever get enough of over the knee boots since they’re not just fashionable but for myself, they keep my legs warm! It’s always hard for me to find a pair that will stay up on my thin calves and are tall enough for my longer legs (human giraffe over here) so when I find a pair that works I can’t hold back.

Living in NYC I literally am walking every day all day so finding shoes that are comfortable, yet fashionable are always on my radar. I’m careful of the ones I splurge on and try to wear them only for date nights or special occasions. I feel like I go through shoes so quick here but really try to weatherproof the winter ones. This Marc Fisher pair are a great quality but still less than the Stuart Weitzman style (which is the only kind that stay up! :( and I love the shape of the toe and the colors it comes in.

This season I’ve seen some of my long term favorite sweaters marked down especially over the holidays and the softer the sweater and the longer the tunic are perfect for me! This cashmere one I have LOVED for so long and was excited to see it on sale. So much so I have it in my shopping cart and debating a neutral or pop of color again. It is super soft & warm without being too heavy and the perfect length for leggings. I have a bright magenta one I’m wearing here from a few years ago. If you take good care of the cashmere, especially when packing away seasonal clothes it will last. The Laundress shampoo for this fabric works so well too.

My new obsession for a little statement coat for winter that’s a less traditional is this lavender wrap coat! I LOVE the color because it stands out from my other winter neutrals and I was able to find it marked down both here and here. It runs true to size and the color is much richer in person with a long length. Also on sale is this pear & grey version that I think is gorgeous and would be perfect for dressing up a simple outfit or pairing with a dress.

Many of the sales are offering up to 40% off! Much of which will most likely be further marked down for Black Friday. So book mark this post so you can retrieve it quickly while shopping. Be sure to click on the different photos in the widget below for details one each sale. Happy Shopping!

Holiday Home Decorating Inspo

IMG_0995.JPEG

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we’ve just bid farewell to Halloween and turned the clocks back. Yay for extra sleep and brighter mornings, but I cannot stand how early it gets dark! I ran some errands this weekend and of course it’s next to impossible to get out of Target for under $50 when I only needed a few household items. My self control is never good there!

I was giddy like a child to see the holiday section filled with so many decorations. I took a walk through to get some inspo. I couldn’t help but pickup a few little pieces to get me set on holiday decorating. I’m going to try and get a head start on it this year since we’ll be traveling for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and have a friend coming to visit next weekend. November is sure to fly by!

How adorable is this little ceramic house and tree?! It comes in white, silver, gold, and a variety of sizes. I love candle light and the houses will glow with some tea lights in them. Sugar Paper always has dainty details for entertaining and these gold ribbon napkin holders are perfect to go with our gold chargers. I couldn’t find them on their website but I did see them in store. I stopped into Bath & Body and they were having a $4 a candle sale so grabbed one to save for December. They would also make great gifts too! The deal is only on for today so if you want one of their single wick candles for gifting now is the time or Black Friday.

I’m looking forward to finding some new ways to decorate our new place and enjoy it before it’s time to travel and holiday shop. This way I can share some of my favorite finds with all of you before they sell out (and I can persuade my husband to help me with the tree before he travels again for work.) I mean if Starbucks has started with their holiday cups then it’s not too early to deck the halls right?

Since our place already has accents of gold throughout I’m going to keep with that and then add some pops of red and ivory. Many of our decorations we’ve had for a quite some time and some of it has really lasted if I invested in it and other pieces I’m ready to toss and refresh. And I can’t handle the mess of glitter so anything with that has got to go! I’m thinking of finding a piece of garland for our window sill that I usually place some decorations on.

We usually purchase a real tree and have cut it down ourselves upstate near our parents homes and drive it back down to NYC (really, we’re crazy!) But we always loved getting to grab our tree as a family after Thanksgiving just in time to head back to the city. Though last year it didn’t happen and we decided to opt for the artificial for sake of easier setup and clean up. So as much as I miss the fresh smell and experience I’ll supplement for a real wreath instead. Tree isn’t up quite yet, still debating which space to set it up in but I’ll probably move on that after next weekend.

I’ve listed some of my favorite holiday finds for decorating below and linked out to the ceramic pieces from Target. I’ve also spotted some great items at Homegoods, Pier 1, Nordstrom Rack, and Michaels. Michael’s always has so many great deals so I placed an order with a coupon code for some sprigs for the tree and ordered some ribbon from another great retailer on ebay.

Ceramic Houses White version and Gold Version

Ceramic Tree White version I swear I got the little green one in my photo from Target. It’s $3, but I just can’t locate it on their site. It’s in the Wondershop section by Birchwood Bay Decor if you check in store.

Sugar Paper Napkin Rings (having trouble finding on site but are in store)

Happy Holidays Napkins

Marble Gold Trim Coasters (Homegoods old) similar here and holiday version

Balsam Candle

Here’s a little wish list of items I’m thinking of for inspiration. Be sure to click on each image in the widget to see the full details on the product’s website. Looking forward to sharing more soon. Let me know where your go to spots are for holiday decoration shopping!
