Gender Neutral Baby Nursery Reveal for Our NYC Apartment

As we patiently await the arrival of Baby S, who is running fashionably late (just like his or her mama), I thought I’d share some pictures of the little nursery space we have put together for him/her. Since we live in a one bedroom apartment in NYC we had to get creative and work smart with our space. This babe won’t need much in the beginning anyway, so this little one will be rooming bedside us for the first few months.

We chose a gender neutral whimsical theme that went with our pre-existing furniture and space. We’re reusing our dresser for the changing table and will transition it into a baby’s room eventually so I switched out the hardware with gold that matches baby’s crib. Since I’ll be off through summer as a teacher, we actually have our crib upstate for now, so we have it when we visit both of our families.

We had registered with Pottery Barn Kids (PBK) for most of our nursery needs. I like how versatile their pieces were and most of their products take into account baby safety and health. The furniture is Greenguard gold certified and they offer a range of organic cottons for bedding. We picked out this crib for baby and our family gifted us this adorable crib skirt and these metallic star sheets from PBK.

This little babe will be sleeping in the Snoo in the beginning. We had heard some great reviews on this form of bassinet and loved the science behind it, with safety it’s top priority we will be giving that a try. I’ll definitely create a Snoo review blog post later on to review how the it works for us.

I styled this bookcase after being inspired by Kendal Kramer’s for her little’s nursery. It was the perfect gender neutral minimalist blend. If you don’t follow her blog, Styled Snapshots I recommend you do. As another NYC blogger she has a great balance between baby products, recipes, and fashion for mamas out there! I liked the leaning book case design and it fit perfectly right next to our dresser along with a wooden wall hanger for baby’s towels.

Now all we’re missing in this little space is the baby! We cannot wait to find out what he or she will look like! I’ve done some deep cleaning and nesting to prepare so it’s been a waiting game to say the least. We’ve had plenty of time to get set with everything happening in regard to the pandemic so enjoying our last few days just the two of us best we can and getting lots of rest!

Hope you enjoy these little details as much as I did coordinating it all. I’ve linked all of our items in the widgets below. If you have any specific questions please leave me a comment below!

February Bar Cart & Table Setting

Cheers friends! We finally made it to the month of February! It felt like January would never end and it’s always a dreary month in New York full of gray skies, snow, and cold weather. So glad spring will come earlier this 2020! Winters are never easy for me so I try to use February as an opportunity to engage in some self love and care spent hosting with friends or making our space feel a little festive. It’s become one of my favorite months because I know spring is right around the corner and my husband’s birthday is at the end of it.

After photographing this bar cart I realized I’m clearly channeling my indulgence for sweets these days, since I’ve been on a hiatus from the actual use of our bar cart. Although my husband has been able to mix me up some delicious mocktails. I’m thinking we need to create one with candy as a garnish!

If you haven’t tried the Malfy Gin collection it’s a must if you like gin. Each is made wihin the Amalfi Coast of Italy, one of our favorite regions. Each flavor, blood, orange, or grapefruit are all equally refreshing.

For this cart I kept everything more minimal than usual since we’re on full on nesting mode over here and I’ve been trying to declutter every square inch! Last year I transitioned the bar cart to more a hot chocolate stand. You can see my 2019 February bar cart post here. This year I combined some new and older pieces for both the bar cart and table scape and went with reds and pinks.

Fresh flowers are a must for me through these winter months and can bring so much life into a room especially during the darker winter months.

Thank you to the talented and creative Sarah of Eight Peonies who generously gave me these beauties. If you’re an upcoming bride looking for a floral/event designer or want a customized arrangement for Valentine’s Day definitely message her over on instagram. She’s been putting together stunning arrangements within our building that light up a room. Her entire feed is so uplifting!

Whether you’re planning on hosting a Galentine’s gathering or staying in with your significant other on Valentine’s Day it doesn’t take much to brighten up your space. I try to think of pieces I can use year to year when I decorate with a theme in mind so definitely recommend starting there.

I find most of my items from Target such as the garland, the heart string lights, and the mini chalk board. I always find great home decor at great prices at HomeGoods or TJMaxx or Hobby Lobby. That’s where I picked up the Valentine’s Day heart table napkins. The placemats are old from Target but these Opalhouse version are just as sweet too and super affordable.

Check out the widget below for some fresh updates to your space this February that won’t break the bank and will last across seasons.

Before baby Siskar arrives I’m soaking up all of the friend time I can. My friend is hosting a Galentine’s Night this weekend and I’ll be attending some NYFW events (as much as my swollen feet can handle). As I’m heading into week 32 it’s time to start taking it easy and check off the baby to do lists.

What are your plans for the month of February? Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day with friends or loved ones or prepare to pamper yourself? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Fall 2019 Décor Styling

October has been well underway and autumn will always be one of my most favorite seasons for countless reasons. I’ve been actually more ready than ever to transition into all the fall feelings starting with switching out my closet and earlier this month we rearranged our apartment and it’s feeling so cozy. I don’t want to leave!

Each season my husband and I host a Halloween Party that has been a tradition since we’ve moved to New York. Since childhood I’ve always loved planning my costume, going apple picking, and watching my mom decorate our home in the most spook-tacular style! I probably get my obsession with decking it out for the holidays from her! She goes all out.

I’ll be sharing some sneak peaks into our party planning over in my instagram stories and what it entails to prepare with more specific Halloween themed items. For now, I keep it more minimal with a few fall touches that will hang around through Thanksgiving. Many of the home decor items I’ve used year after year and recently picked up a few items to update our newer apartment. This year I’ve swapped out some of my pillows and found some super affordable pillow covers that work for the season. Sharing those in the widget below. They’re also easier to store away between seasons! I picked up the gray leopard Barefoot Dreams blanket from the Nsale earlier in the season and I’m glad I did because I use it everyday! Definitely worth the investment or to gift this holiday season.

I love nothing more than lighting a new fall candle! I’m obsessed with this one from Anthropologie, but usually end up picking up a few from Homegoods. An apple cider type and a pumpkin spiced one.

If you’re interested in seeing some of my Halloween decorating and costumes from last year’s Spooktacular party you can read about it in this post.
